We recently hosted our inaugural Maverick User Forum in Denver, CO for power users to network, learn about where InFocus is headed, and exchange ideas about what they’d like to see for future releases. We had a great turnout for the being the first event of its kind, and we are excited to make it a staple for years to come!

The Maverick User Forum in Denver covered a variety of topics, but one of the highlights was hearing from our founder and CEO Matt Pantana who gave a brief history of the company and laid out an overview of the InFocus product roadmap. You can see the video below or by clicking here. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel while you’re at it!

At Clearview, we have identified three pillars that will come to define our next season of growth: product innovation, market awareness, and user engagement. We believe the status quo has been maintained for far too long in our industry, and we want to be leading the charge toward change and innovation. Why do we think we can lead such a charge? Because we are convinced we have the greatest talent. Our developers are knowledgeable about A/E, highly capable, imaginative, and willing to push the boundaries of what is possible with the current technology. We aren’t looking to simply improve InFocus – we are looking to call the entire industry to a higher standard of technological innovation and user input. This can only be accomplished through a movement of collective voices demanding better.

To this end, we are looking to identify InFocus users and partners who wish to be part of this collective voice. Those of you who are imaginative, problem-solving and forward-thinking regardless of what hat you wear: whether you’re a principal or a junior associate; whether you’re in IT, HR, Finance, PM, or Marketing (or multiple); or whether you’re a third-party consultant looking to solve issues for clients – we invite you to join us in exchanging ideas about how InFocus can be used to move innovation forward at your A/E firm and inspire innovation to move forward in the A/E industry as a whole.

Clearview’s Maverick User Forum is our first step toward gathering together a community of people who want to see greater things from A/E technology. Now that you have the big vision, let’s explain further what this event will entail:

This event is a forum for exchanging ideas about the future of InFocus and A/E, and it will include

  • Roundtable discussions about problems and solutions in your A/E firm and in the A/E industry
  • Presentations from firms who are using InFocus in imaginative and creative ways
  • A look at the InFocus product roadmap
  • Listening sessions with Clearview’s leadership about what to include in future InFocus releases

Of course, this begs the questions, “So what will the actual agenda entail? What are the sessions called? Which of my people should I send?” These are fair questions, and we will certainly be releasing specifics in more detail as we get closer to the event. Our goal, however, is for attendees to dream first and learn second. While this event may entail some type of formal InFocus product training, our first priority will be to discuss and reflect on current and future challenges and solutions in A/E and how they can be solved with the technology we have built and are building.

We hope to see you there! For more info, check out the Maverick User Forum event page.

Dear InFocus Clients,

As we reflect upon 2018 and look to the future, we’d like to extend a huge thank you for entrusting us with your business. We hope you will take a moment to be reminded of our commitment to you and join our enthusiasm for the future as we reiterate why we’re here and where we’re headed. Great things are coming!

Why We’re Here

InFocus was built and launched as a solution to multiple unaddressed problems we saw in A/E products at the time. Legacy ERP systems were clunky, unsupported, and overpriced with no attractive upgrade paths. Because the companies who made these products controlled the market, they consistently hiked prices with little to no product improvement while selling stories about the brilliance of their “next release” or “next try.” Sadly, many firms were forced to accept mediocrity at high prices because there existed few alternatives, especially for enterprise firms. Instead of being treated as valuable people doing valuable work, A/E firms were being treated as cash cows.

We imagined a different world – one where instead of being herded around, A/E firms asked themselves, “What should an ERP solution actually cost?” , “What should we expect for support and innovation?”, “When should we leave ERP providers that are underperforming?” “Why should we wait for future promises?” Thus, InFocus was born out of our desire to change the A/E industry’s perspective on what excellence means. After our initial launch in 2007, we quickly learned that many people were willing to join us in rejecting the status quo. As a result, we’ve seen consistent organic growth year over year since our inception – including 41% growth in 2018.

Where We’re Headed

As we look ahead to 2019 and beyond, we’d like to share three pillars that will come to define our next season of growth:

  • Product Development. We have had 47 releases in the past decade. This level of development is unmatched in our industry. With innovation as one of our core values, we remain committed to improving InFocus with more API integrations and user interface enhancements.
  • Market Awareness. Being developer owned and led means our efforts have been largely focused on developing and supporting InFocus, leading us to grow organically through referrals and word-of-mouth. We recently hired a full-time marketing manager to help us spread the word about InFocus through attendance at industry events and other various marketing channels.
  • User Engagement. We’ve offered ongoing training through workshops and monthly webinars. Because fostering a sense of community and ownership among our user base is important to us, we will build upon what we’ve established by cultivating a network of local in-person user groups, a national power user group for innovating firms, and more in-depth monthly webinars.  January will see the launch of two new such webinars:
    • InFocus Adoption with Pam Ingram: Pam will draw on her 25+ years of experience in organizational leadership to teach on topics related to building buy in and user adoption around the implementation of InFocus. The first one will be January 24th. Register here.

    • InFocus Innovation with Gerald Cox: Gerald will use his extensive knowledge of both the A/E industry and InFocus to dive into the power of the InFocus ‘engine’ and how its superior technological capabilities – like the API management layer for integrations and analytic dashboards – can drive innovation. This webinar will be ideal for technical team members and/or those that want to learn more about what’s possible with InFocus. The first one will be January 9th. Register here.

We will be renaming our current learning webinar to “InFocus Applied with Lucas Hayden”; it will still be centered around mastering the basic functions of InFocus and will be ideal for all users. The next one will be January 17th. Register here.

Our Commitment to You

At Clearview, we are passionate about what we do. We are led by developers, not by business people or venture capital firms, which means our only vested interest is your success. Our desire has always been for our clients to feel respected and pay fairly, knowing that they don’t have to choose between performance and value. We’ve committed ourselves to listening closely to your needs and ideas, and will continue to do so.

We will always listen to you, and we will always innovate and support you the best way we can. We value your feedback and we take it seriously, believing you should always feel you made the right decision by choosing InFocus.

Thank you again for entrusting us with your business. We are excited about all that’s to come in the life and journey of Clearview Software and we are thankful to have such a wonderful group of people sharing it with us. Buckle up – the best is yet to come!

Clearview Office Space 1

Last month Clearview moved into a spacious new facility. The offices are inside the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research in Bedford County, Virginia. The space lets us do things that weren’t possible before, like hosting local tech meet-ups and on-site client training. Even as this post is being written there’s a training session in progress. We’re excited about this new chapter at Clearview!

As we continue to enhance the feature set and user experience of InFocus, we place great value on client feedback. In fact, many InFocus features are a direct result of the shared expertise and innovation of our user community.

With this in mind, we are excited to announce the release of InFocus Ideas.

Ideas is a platform for our users to join in the product discussion with Clearview developers and the InFocus community alike.

“We developed Ideas as a way to give our clients a collective voice. Being able to hear what the community at large is looking for will help us continue to make InFocus the best product in the market.” Jason Bivens, Product Manager

Included with Clearview’s support offering, InFocus users can both sound off on their ideas for product features/enhancements and browse existing ones to vote up their favorites.

“Community voting on ideas gives us better insight into what we should be focusing on.” Matt Pantana, CTO and Lead Developer

InFocus Ideas launches an innovative new chapter in the development of InFocus and we’re anticipating great results.

Each year PSMJ Resources, Inc. conducts their annual A/E Financial Performance Benchmark Survey. From that survey, an exclusive list of industry leaders are selected for their achievements in running productive and profitable businesses. These industry leaders are welcomed into PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence.

“PSMJ’s Circle of Excellence is designed to highlight firms that are successfully managed and demonstrate outstanding achievements in profitability, overhead management, cash flow, productivity, business development, staff growth, and turnover (based on 13 key performance metrics). The Circle of Excellence represents the top 20% of participants in PSMJ’s annual A/E Financial Performance Benchmark Survey.”

We love to hear of our client’s success and are proud to announce that several firms running InFocus were included in this year’s Circle of Excellence!

Congratulations to each member- here’s to ongoing success in 2015!

Clearview is a tight-knit company, so we’re very intentional about who we hire and promote. We’re excited about two recent decisions that make Clearview even stronger.

First, Rob Wintz has been promoted to CFO. When Rob joined Clearview in 2011 he brought over 30 years of experience as a CPA. We couldn’t be more pleased to have him as our new CFO. Read Rob’s official announcement.

Second, Eric Kimmet joins us as director of customer support. As Clearview continues to grow we want to make sure that our clients get amazing support, and Eric will be a big part of that. Because he used InFocus at the architectural firm he is coming from, Eric hit the ground running. He also has experience with BST and other systems, so he’s able to help clients make the transition to InFocus. Welcome Eric! Read Eric’s official announcement.

We’re excited to announce InFocus in the Cloud, available immediately starting at an amazing price: $19/user/month. This is a perfect fit for any firm that doesn’t want to maintain their own servers for running InFocus. Or for firms who simply want the convenience and peace of mind of letting us take care of the infrastructure and backups.

InFocus in the Cloud isn’t a watered down version. It’s the full-blown native Windows application with all features*. So you get the speed and power of a desktop app without having to worry about the backend infrastructure.  And it’s always up-to-date. InFocus automatically updates itself without the need to manually run an installer.

We expect InFocus in the Cloud to be a hit with lots of AE firms.

So what’s next at Clearview? We’re bringing the most common functionality of InFocus, like time and expense, to all platforms and mobile devices. These HTML5 web apps will be released in the coming months for both InFocus in the Cloud and InFocus In-House.

*Document management will be available in the Cloud with the next release of InFocus
